Privacy Policy — Frame Your Friends

Ali Ebrahimi Pourasad (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Frame Your Friends application, including its iPhone app, Apple Vision Pro app, widgets, and related services (“Service”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the Service, why it is processed, and your rights.

2. Information We Process

Depending on how you use Frame Your Friends, the following information may be processed:

Photos and shared content

When you select and upload a photo, the photo is stored using Apple CloudKit and shared with the Apple Vision Pro photo-frame owner you connected with.

The Service may also process:

  • An optional sender display name
  • The photo-frame owner’s display name
  • Photo identifiers and upload dates
  • Reactions and reaction counts
  • Technical identifiers required to associate uploaded photos with their sender
  • CloudKit sharing records and connection information

Photos may also be cached locally on participating devices and in the app’s shared storage container so that they can be displayed in the app and its widgets.

iCloud and CloudKit information

Frame Your Friends uses Apple CloudKit to provide photo sharing, synchronization, reactions, and connection management. Apple may process Apple Account, device, CloudKit, and technical information as necessary to provide these services.

CloudKit data is associated with the relevant iCloud container and shared only with participants who have access to the applicable CloudKit share. More information is available in Apple’s Privacy Policy and its CloudKit information.

Purchase and subscription information

If you purchase or restore a subscription, Apple and RevenueCat process information necessary to manage the purchase. This may include:

  • An app-specific customer identifier
  • Purchased products and subscription status
  • Purchase and renewal dates
  • App Store transaction or receipt information
  • Trial and entitlement status
  • Technical information needed to validate and restore purchases

We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.

Analytics information

We use TelemetryDeck to understand how the Service is used and to improve its reliability and features.

Analytics may include:

  • An anonymized installation identifier
  • Events such as launching the app, completing onboarding, uploading or deleting a photo, accepting an invitation, sending a reaction, or opening settings
  • App version, operating-system version, device type, and similar technical information
  • Whether premium access is active
  • The number of photos in the gallery
  • Approximate event date and time
  • Error events and technical error information

We do not intentionally send photos, display names, Apple Account details, or the contents of your photo library to TelemetryDeck. According to TelemetryDeck, identifiers are anonymized before transmission and IP addresses are not stored. Further information is available in TelemetryDeck’s Privacy FAQ and Privacy Policy.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Apple processes notification identifiers and delivery information so that Frame Your Friends can notify you about relevant activity, such as reactions.

You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings. Disabling notifications does not prevent you from using the app’s other features.

Local information

The Service stores certain information locally on your device or in its App Group container, including:

  • Cached photos
  • Display names
  • Photo and sharing identifiers
  • Reaction information
  • Premium status
  • App preferences
  • Onboarding and notification-prompt status

This information supports app functionality, widgets, offline presentation, and synchronization.

Support communications

If you contact us, we process the information contained in your message, including your email address and any information you voluntarily provide, to respond to your request.

Diagnostic data

Apple may provide aggregated or diagnostic information when the app crashes or encounters an error, depending on your device’s privacy and analytics settings. Such information may include device type, operating-system version, app version, and technical error details.

3. Purposes and Legal Bases

We process information for the following purposes:

  • To provide photo sharing, synchronization, widgets, reactions, and notifications
  • To establish and manage connections between users
  • To process and restore subscriptions
  • To maintain the security and reliability of the Service
  • To diagnose technical problems
  • To understand feature usage and improve the Service
  • To respond to support requests
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights

Where the GDPR applies, processing is based on one or more of the following:

  • Performance of a contract under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR
  • Your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, where consent is requested
  • Our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, including operating, securing, analyzing, and improving the Service
  • Compliance with legal obligations under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

4. Service Providers

We use the following service providers:

Apple and CloudKit

Apple provides the App Store, in-app purchases, CloudKit storage and sharing, push notifications, and other operating-system services.

RevenueCat manages subscription status, purchase validation, entitlements, and purchase restoration.

TelemetryDeck provides privacy-focused, anonymized app analytics.

Frame Your Friends does not use ChatGPT or another generative-AI service to process your photos or other app content. It does not use an independently operated AWS backend.

5. Sharing With Other Users

Frame Your Friends is designed for sharing photos between connected users. Photos, optional sender names, and reactions may therefore be visible to the owner of the connected photo frame and other authorized participants in the same shared CloudKit environment.

Only upload content you are authorized to share. Be mindful that photographs may contain personal information about you or other people.

6. International Data Transfers

Some service providers may process information outside Germany or the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred internationally, the provider or we will rely on an applicable legal transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses, where required.

7. Retention and Deletion

Information is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.

You may delete individual uploaded photos through the Service where that feature is available. Disconnecting may remove your uploaded photos and associated sharing information from the applicable CloudKit share. A photo-frame owner may disconnect participants and delete the shared CloudKit environment.

Cached copies may remain temporarily on devices until synchronization or local cleanup is completed. Apple, RevenueCat, and TelemetryDeck may retain information according to their respective policies and legal obligations.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through the Service. Data transmitted to CloudKit, RevenueCat, and TelemetryDeck is protected using the security mechanisms provided by those services.

However, no electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for securing your device, Apple Account, passcode, and access to shared invitation links. Jailbreaking, rooting, or otherwise disabling device security protections may compromise the security and functionality of the Service.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Where applicable, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Request restriction of processing
  • Receive certain data in a portable format
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority

10. External Links

The Service may contain links to websites or services not operated by us. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review the privacy policy of any external service you visit.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Service, our processing activities, or applicable law. The updated policy will display a revised effective date.

Material changes may also be communicated within the app where appropriate.

Terms and Conditions — Frame Your Friends

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of Frame Your Friends, including its iPhone app, Apple Vision Pro app, widgets, and related services (“Service”).

The Service is provided by Ali Ebrahimi Pourasad (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By downloading or using Frame Your Friends, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Frame Your Friends enables users to connect through Apple CloudKit, upload and share photos, display shared photos in an app or widget, and send reactions.

Certain features may require:

  • A compatible Apple device
  • A supported operating-system version
  • An Apple Account with iCloud enabled
  • An active internet connection
  • Acceptance of a CloudKit sharing invitation
  • Notification permission
  • A paid subscription

Features may differ depending on the device, operating system, region, and subscription status.

2. License

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use Frame Your Friends on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, subject to these Terms and the applicable App Store usage rules.

The app is licensed, not sold. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies unless a valid custom license agreement takes its place.

You may not:

  • Copy, redistribute, rent, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app
  • Modify the app or create derivative works from it
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract its source code, except where applicable law expressly permits this
  • Circumvent security, subscription, or access-control mechanisms
  • Interfere with the Service or another user’s use of it
  • Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes

All intellectual-property rights in Frame Your Friends remain with Ali Ebrahimi Pourasad or the applicable licensors.

3. User Content

You retain ownership of photographs and other content you upload.

By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, reproduce, transmit, cache, and display that content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service.

You confirm that:

  • You own the content or have permission to share it
  • Sharing it does not violate privacy, copyright, image rights, or other rights
  • The content is lawful
  • The content does not contain malware or material intended to harm the Service or another user

You must not upload illegal, threatening, abusive, hateful, sexually exploitative, or otherwise unlawful content.

We may restrict access to or remove content where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, address rights violations, or preserve the security of the Service.

4. Shared Access

CloudKit invitation links provide access to a shared photo environment. You are responsible for sharing invitation links only with intended recipients.

Authorized participants may be able to view shared photos, display names, and reactions. A photo-frame owner may disconnect participants, delete photos, or terminate the shared environment. A sender may delete their photos or disconnect where the applicable functionality is available.

We are not responsible for actions taken by people whom you authorize to access a shared environment.

5. Subscriptions and Purchases

Frame Your Friends may offer paid subscriptions or other in-app purchases.

Prices, billing periods, trial conditions, and included features are shown in the App Store purchase screen before you confirm a purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account.

Subscriptions may renew automatically unless canceled through your Apple Account subscription settings. You can view, change, or cancel an App Store subscription through your device settings. Apple provides subscription-management instructions.

Deleting the app does not automatically cancel a subscription.

Apple manages billing, cancellations, and refunds. Refund eligibility is determined under Apple’s rules and applicable law. RevenueCat assists with validating purchases and determining subscription entitlements but does not process your payment-card details.

We may change subscription prices or benefits subject to applicable law and App Store requirements. Any required notice or consent will be provided through Apple or within the Service.

6. Internet Access and Charges

An internet connection is required for photo uploads, synchronization, invitations, subscriptions, and some other features.

You are responsible for internet, mobile-data, and roaming charges imposed by your service provider. We are not responsible for reduced functionality caused by unavailable, slow, or unreliable connectivity.

7. Availability and Changes

We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue features to improve the Service, address security issues, comply with legal requirements, or respond to technical and platform changes.

We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every future device or operating-system version.

Where required by law, we will provide reasonable notice of material changes that negatively affect paid features.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on services provided by Apple, RevenueCat, and TelemetryDeck. Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms and policies.

We are not responsible for outages, changes, or restrictions caused by third-party services outside our reasonable control.

9. Device and Account Security

You are responsible for keeping your device, Apple Account, passcode, and shared invitation links secure.

You are also responsible for activity performed through your device or shared access that you authorized. Notify us promptly if you become aware of unauthorized use affecting the Service.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete the app. You must separately cancel any active subscription through Apple if you wish to stop future renewals.

We may suspend or terminate access where you materially violate these Terms, misuse the Service, endanger other users, infringe third-party rights, or where suspension is required by law or necessary to protect the Service.

Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including intellectual-property, liability, and governing-law provisions—will remain effective.

11. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under applicable product-liability law, and where liability cannot legally be excluded.

For damage caused by ordinary negligence, we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation whose fulfillment is necessary for proper performance of the agreement and on which you may ordinarily rely. In such cases, liability is limited to damage that was foreseeable and typical when the agreement was concluded.

These limitations do not affect mandatory consumer rights or statutory warranties.

You should retain your own copies of important photographs. The Service should not be used as your only photo backup.

12. Privacy

Our processing of information is described in the Frame Your Friends Privacy Policy above.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms when necessary due to changes in the Service, applicable law, security requirements, or third-party platform rules.

Material changes will be communicated appropriately. Where your consent is legally required, the revised Terms will not apply until that consent has been obtained.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.

If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory protections provided by the law of the country in which you ordinarily reside. Statutory rules concerning jurisdiction remain unaffected.
